She has served as the principal of Northwest Lutheran School since 2015.

What is special about Northwest Lutheran?

"Northwest Lutheran is special because of the people. The teachers, the parents, and the students together create a warm and positive environment. Each year, it becomes more and more like a family working hard for each other. We don't always agree, but every person cares and is willing to communicate and put forth effort for the sake of our children. I am grateful to be here and I hope anyone who joins this family has the same experience I have had."

What is your philosophy about education?

“Education is the equalizer to inequality. It is the ladder for those in a ditch. It is the stabilizer to chaos. Learning how to find information, think about what you learn, and communicate in an effective way empowers you to be successful. I want all students to be able to be independent, thrive, and know how to be an excellent family and community member. I believe that all students are capable of learning and finding the purpose that God has. I believe that God created every single person with a unique purpose.”

What do you love about what you do?

“The kids! Just put me with the kids and I am so excited. Kids are so funny, inspiring, creative, and they make life fun! Summer is a drag because our building is empty. I get so pumped as soon as I start seeing all the kids coming in the morning.”

What is your hope for LUMIN scholars as they grow?

“That they learn how much God loves them, and learn how to love other people no matter how different or challenging. And that they use their education to fulfill a godly purpose in their lives and the community.”

Favorite bible verse?

“The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” - Exodus 14:14

In your free time, what do you like to do?

“I love to learn more about Jesus! I spend any extra time I have reading the Bible, doing devotions, listening to bible studies and sermons, and reading books that challenge me to consider who God is for me and others. I like to do a lot of other things, like find adventures with my children and throw parties. But if I am honest about my free time I spend it with Jesus.”

What is your greatest accomplishment?

“Staying married to my very best friend. I hope we have many years ahead of us. Having a Christ-centered marriage has led to joy in raising our children together, is a beautiful picture of God’s forgiveness, and I truly believe my entire life is blessed because of the love of my husband.”

What’s your favorite book?

“Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I love the language, the story, and it is a fun read. It is interesting to consider your initial perception might be completely inaccurate, and it is always best to check your pride and your prejudice before assuming about someone else.”

What’s one fun fact about you?

“I LOVE GROUNDHOGS DAY! It is my favorite holiday. If you are at my school, you will learn a lot about Groundhogs Day. It is always exciting to learn new things, even about little things.”
